Overview

The signoff button allows any user with access to an entity to sign off an account or workpaper, track its review status and keep an eye on changes.

Understanding sign off statuses

Each user with access to an entity will see a signoff button displayed as their initials in the Signoff column of the trial balance. The system uses a color-coded status to indicate the sign off progress:

Colour
Meaning
GreyThe account has not been signed off by the user yet. Select the signoff button with your initials to sign off.
GreenThe account has been signed off. To undo the sign off, select your initials.
OrangeThe information in the account has been changed or a new query/note has been added after being signed off. Selecting your initials again will turn the signoff green.

Where can you sign off an account or workpaper

You can sign off an account in four locations within the system:

  1. Trial Balance Page: In the Signoff column.
    • Navigate to Workpapers > Accounts.
  2. Account Page: In the Status panel.
    • Navigate to Workpapers > Accounts > Trial balance > click the account name.
  3. Workpapers Page: In the Signoff column.
    • Navigate to Workpapers > Workpapers.
  4. Tax Position Page: In the Statement of Taxable Income, within the Signoff column.

Reviewing changes for orange signoff status

If an account's signoff button turns orange, you can review the changes that occurred since your original signoff:

  1. Open the account or workpaper, by selecting the name of the account or the name of the workpaper.
  2. Select the Activity tab.
  3. Locate the record of your last signoff.
  4. Check the entries above it to see what has changed.

Troubleshooting

Can't see a users' initials displaying in the signoff column

This occurs when a user has not signed off any accounts and/or workpapers in the entity. Their signoff button will become visible when they sign off their first account or workpaper.
