Create an organisation

Overview

A TaxLab organisation represents your workplace, whether you’re a single user, like a finance manager for a company, a sole trader with an IRD agency, or part of a team in an accounting firm.

When the first user creates an account with TaxLab an organisation is automatically set up using your organisation's email domain. From there, you can easily add entities and invite other users to your TaxLab organisation.

Your team members will also need to go through this process to create their own accounts in order to access your organisation.

To simplify team access, TaxLab automatically links user accounts with the same email domain to the organisation.

After clicking the create button you’ll be automatically prompted to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

MFA is required for Government-connected software. It enhances security by requiring a second form of verification alongside your password.

  1. Ensure you have the Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator app downloaded to your phone.

  2. On your phone, open your authenticator app and click the + button to add a new account, then,

    • If using Microsoft authenticator, on the Add account page select 'Other (Google, Facebook etc)'.

    • If using Google authenticator, select 'Scan a QR code'.

  3. Using your authenticator app, scan the QR code on your login screen.

    • Please note: Do not use your phone's camera app or a general QR code reader app to scan the QR code. You need to use your authenticator app in order to add MFA properly.

  4. Once your TaxLab account has been added to your authenticator app, Click Continue in TaxLab.

  5. Enter the code from your authenticator app and click Verify.

Once you’ve set up your MFA and have logged into TaxLab you can choose to have Single sign-on with Microsoft Azure B2C enabled for your TaxLab organisation instead of users having MFA.
