Check an assessed return

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 5:18 PM

Overview

The return tasks feature in TaxLab displays an overview of the current status of all income tax returns for the previous tax year. Users can filter and see the filing status of returns, and any variances in filed and assessed amounts.

Review the return status

Once a return has been set to be filed, the return tasks overview displays the status of filing with Inland Revenue. As the return progresses at Inland Revenue, the status will change.

Review assessed returns

When a return is assessed at Inland Revenue, the status of the return task in TaxLab will update to assessed. Using the Assessed filter, review the TaxLab residual income tax (TaxLab RIT) against the IRD RIT for any variance. The software will update the return task status to assessed status the day after it has been updated in myIR.

Review errors

If, when the return is attempted to be filed and an error occurs, the return will move to an Error status. Select the Error filter to see messaging explaining the possible cause of the error. Additional detail on error messaging can be found here.

Troubleshooting

Return hasn't been assessed

The timing of a return being assessed is completely dependent on the IRD, and it can vary between one day and up to a year. If you are concerned about the status, first check in myIR or contact the IRD directly.

Return is displaying an error

Using the Error filter, review the messaging which explains what caused the error. For further details and ways to correct errors, see our article Inland Revenue e-file errors.
