New and improved tax payments experience

Modified on Thu, 17 Jul at 6:16 PM

Overview

We've improved the clarity and usability of tax payments. Redesigned screens for returns, provisional, and terminal payments make it easier to see what's due and when. We've also reduced clutter by hiding reversed Inland Revenue transactions by default, improving readability and aligning with how they appear in myIR.

What's new in tax payments?

Provisional tax

We've redesigned the layout to make it easier to see how provisional tax payments are calculated.

  • Provisional tax liability panel: Shows the liability, along with the method and calculation used taking into account returns that have been filed or that have a target filing date.
  • Instalment panel: Shows the instalment amount due, taking into account existing Inland Revenue credits and tax pooling funds, and credits.
  • Pay-later financing panel: Shows an instant, anonymous, no-obligation tax pool financing quote from Tax Traders to help manage cash flow.
  • Task panel: Shows task progress and assignee details, the Contact name, address and email address, payment notice theme, office and template, and, if your organisation has emailing enabled, the Send by Email button and Email history.

Terminal tax

We've also redesigned the layout of terminal tax payments to align with provisional tax, but with clearer differentiation:

  • Terminal tax panel: Shows the total tax to pay and the total including tax, student loan repayments, estimated interest, and any late payment penalties.
  • Minimise interest with tax pooling panel: Shows an optimised payment and how much interest and late payment penalties can be saved by paying through Tax Traders instead of Inland Revenue.

Tax return

The Tax Payments screen in the Tax Return has been updated to align more closely with the Terminal Tax screen:

Inland Revenue transactions

Transactions from Inland Revenue that reverse are now hidden by default in the Transactions panel

This better aligns with how transactions appear in myIR and reduces clutter. You can still view all reversing transactions by selecting the 'Show reversing' checkbox when needed.
