Queries

The Queries feature is useful when you work in a team or with a tax advisor. It allows you to ask questions about a specific account or its workpaper, or the entity’s tax calculation in general.

You can manage queries in two places:

  • On the Queries tab on each account page
  • On the main Queries page

Post a query to an account

When you post a query to an account, the Query button for that account becomes active (orange colour) on the Trial balance page. This is an indicator to other users that there is a query to address, which is a key part of the accounts review process.

  1. On the Trial balance page, click the account to open it, then click the Queries tab.
  2. Type your query in the box and click Post.

Post a query to an entity

You can post a query to an entity without linking it to a specific account in the trial balance.

  1. Click the Workpapers tab > Queries.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Type your query in the box.
  4. Click Save.

Address and close a query

  1. Select one of these options:
    • In the top menu, click the Workpapers tab > Queries, locate the query and click Reply.
The Queries page displays a list of all of the queries that have been posted to the accounts, and the entity in general.
    • On the Trial balance page, click the orange Queries button > Open workpaper, then click the Queries tab.
    • On the Trial balance page, click the account to open it, then click the Queries tab.
  2. Type your reply and click Post.
  3. Click Close.

Sort and filter queries

If there are a lot of queries posted against an entity, you can use the sort and filter functions on the Queries page to find a specific query.

  1. On the Workpapers tab > Queries page, click the Settings button.
  2. Use the relevant Sort By options, and Created By and Show filters, to locate the queries.

Print queries

To view a list of open queries in PDF format, click Print > Queries in the top menu.
