Benefits assigned to former employees

Overview

Past employees can be assigned to a Former employee pool in TaxLab, either individually or by bulk updating multiple records at once. This ensures correct treatment of any relevant benefits attributed to former employees.

Update an individual former employee

To assign past employees to the Former Employee Pool:

  1. Change departure date:
    • From the FBT calculation, in the navigation bar select Workpapers > Employees.
    • From the Employees workpaper, select the relevant employee.
    • From the Edit employee popup window, enter a Departed date.
  2. Review sense check:

If the system detects any benefits attributed to departed employees then this will display as a sense check. 

  • From the FBT calculation, in the navigation bar, select Workpapers > Analysis > Sense Checks.
  • From the Sense Checks screen > select the Full year tab > select Benefits Attributed to Former Employees.

Bulk update multiple former employees

To bulk assign past employees to the former employee pool:

  1. From the FBT calculation, in the navigation bar, select Workpapers > Analysis > Sense Checks.
  2. From the Sense Checks screen > select the Full year tab > select Benefits Attributed to Former Employees.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the relevant benefits, or in the header row to select all benefits listed on the screen.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. In the Treatment field select Former Employee from the dropdown menu.
  6. Select Save changes.
