Edit a locked income tax return

Modified on Tue, 30 Apr 2024 at 01:34 PM

Update a tax return when already set to 'Ready to Sign'

The Filing is split into 3 main steps:

  • Step 1 – Ready to Sign
  • Step 2 – Ready to File
  • Step 3 – Filing

When Step 1 of the E-File process has been completed (Ready to sign), TaxLab automatically locks and captures a version of the return. Should any updates be necessary for e-filing, simply click "Set back to Draft" to make the required changes before e-filing the return.

Change a tax return after it is filed

Our platform offers users the flexibility to make adjustments even after filing a return, without affecting the filing status or the E-Filed data.

In cases where a return has been filed but adjustments are needed, such as marking Tax Payments as Tax Paid for a future year, unlocking the return is a simple solution. It's important to note that unlocking the return will not impact the E-File status.

For printing the transcript based on the E-File data, access the relevant version (20XX return filing – File Return) to print it. To open a version, use the workflow bar to navigate to the relevant version.

Amendments

At present, TaxLab does not facilitate the filing of amended returns. Any necessary amendments to tax returns that have already been successfully filed must be completed directly through myIR.
