Return tasks

Modified on Tue, 26 Mar 2024 at 02:30 PM

The system automatically creates return tasks for the tax years selected in the entity’s Tax years tab. See Set the income years and tasks.

Open a return task

  1. Click the Workflow tab > Returns.
  2. The tasks are displayed based on the status of the return task. Use the ‘All’ tab to see all return tasks.
  3. Click on Add Filter to add multiple filters and criteria. Use the cog to export the task list to Excel, if required.
  4. Click the return task you want to open.

Update a return task

You can update the progress of a return task and the user it is assigned to. You can also add a note, attach a file, and add other users to the task.

Calculation has been created

If the calculation has been created for the year, this will open the File with IRD screen for the entity with the workflow bar just under the menu bar.

On the File with IRD screen, use the workflow bar to:

  • Update the status of the return task
  • Assign a user to the return task. The drop down list will show all users who currently have access to the entity. You can also add another user to the entity. Click Add user and then enter their email address or name.
Adding a user using the workflow bar will give the user, full access to the entity

You can also switch between live data and a version using the workflow bar.

Calculation has not been created

If the calculation has not yet been created for the entity (ie, the calculation hasn’t been rolled forward), you will see the return task independent of the calculation.

  1. Open the return task
  2. On the Task tab, update the task as required:
    • Select the new status from the Progress drop-down list.
    • Select the new user from the Assigned To drop-down list.
    • Optional: Type a note in the Note box.
    • Optional: Upload a file.
    • Optional: Add a user.
    • Optional: View the history of the task on the Activity tab.

Update return tasks in bulk

You can update the Progress, GST frequency and EOT status of multiple return tasks at the same time. You can also update the user the tasks are assigned to.

  1. Click the Workflow tab > Returns.
  2. Select the check boxes of the tasks that you want to update.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Update the tasks as required:
    • Update the progress status of the task.
    • Update the user the tasks are assigned to.
    • Update the GST frequency.
    • Update the extension of time (EOT) status.
  5. Click Save changes to [number] tasks.
